How to Press DTF Transfers
Follow this guide to correctly apply DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers to T-shirts and hoodies for long-lasting, professional results.
What You Need
-
Heat press machine
-
DTF transfer
-
Garment (T-shirt or hoodie)
-
Teflon sheet or parchment paper
Recommended Heat Press Settings
-
Temperature: 300–320°F (150–160°C)
-
Time: 10–15 seconds
-
Pressure: Medium to firm
Settings may vary slightly depending on fabric type and heat press model.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Pre-Press the Garment
Press the blank garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. This ensures proper adhesion.
Step 2: Position the Transfer
Place the DTF transfer face down (design touching the garment). Align it carefully in the desired position.
Step 3: Press the Transfer
Cover the transfer with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper.
Press at 300–320°F for 10–15 seconds using medium to firm pressure.
Step 4: Cool & Peel
Allow the transfer to cool completely.
Slowly peel the film from one corner.
Most DTF transfers are cold peel unless otherwise noted.
Step 5: Final Press (Highly Recommended)
Place a Teflon sheet over the design and press again for 5–10 seconds.
This seals the print and improves durability and finish.
